NNA SUPPORT FOR CONTINUING EDUCATION

The Nevada Nurses Association is committed to lifelong learning for nurses and offers many free and discounted CEU opportunities for NNA members. Non-members may be asked to pay a small fee. Joining our learning center is free and offers access to online learning and other resources.

NNA BIOTERRORISM COURSE

The NNA Bioterrorism Course is available online. Successful completion of this four-hour course satisfies the one-time requirement for licensure by the Nevada State Board of Nursing (NSBN) for all nurses to take four hours of continuing education "relating to the medical consequences of an act of terrorism that involves the use of a weapon of mass destruction" pursuant to the Nevada Nurse Practice Act, NRS 632.343 (3).

SCREENING, BRIEF INTERVENTION AND REFERRAL TO TREATMENT (SBIRT)

SBIRT is designed to provide universal screening, secondary prevention (detecting risky or hazardous substance use before the onset of abuse or dependence), and early intervention and treatment within primary care and other health care settings for people who have problematic or hazardous alcohol problems. This course is available online for 4.0 CEUs and is offered by CASAT/UNR free of charge to NNA members and non-members.

PREVENTING FETAL ALCOHOL SPECTRUM DISORDERS (FASD)

A course to provide skills, tools, and resources for nurses regarding FASD is available online for 1.5 CEUs. Course goals, emphasizing the duty to intervene, are to update and enhance a nurse's competency before, during, and/or after an alcohol-exposed pregnancy thus preventing or reducing harms from FASD.

NEW! ORVIS SCHOOL OF NURSING PRECEPTOR TRAINING

The Orvis School of Nursing has prepared four online training modules to support the professional development of Nevada preceptors. The program is free and includes CEUs.

NURSING LICENSURE COMPACT (NCL) WEBINAR

The Nevada Nurses Association is pleased to present a recording of the Continuing Education (CE) Webinar focusing on the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). The objective of this educational activity was to present general and specific information on the NCL from the perspective of the Nevada State Board of Nursing, the Nevada Hospital Association, and the Nevada Nurses Association. The UNLV School of Nursing and the Southern Nevada Nursing Practice Alliance initially presented this program on May 19, 2020.

1.5 CEUs are awarded at no charge to those who view the entire presentation and complete the evaluation.
